Simultaneous EEG/fMRIEEG/fMRI acquisition allows to combine in one technique the high temporal resolution of neurophysiological signals and the high spatial resolution of MR imaging. BE unit is a really fully digital (RAW DATA) universal recorder.
The extremely large bandwidth of the Mizar (DC–20KHz) and the high dynamic range (up to128 mV), allows the hardware to manage EEG, Video EEG, Polygraphy and EPs being able to work also in MRI environment: inserting the unit into a specific shielded case result in an insulated system (tests are performed up to3 Tesla tomographs): the BE-MRI System!
BE-MRI system is intended to constantly monitor the patient during fMRI session.
A specified software package has been developed in order to obtain in Real-Time mode the EEG acquired during imaging sequences, allows to avoid on the trace all artifacts due to RF pulses, gradient and EKG’s effects.
Results are comparable EEGs with the same ones obtained in clinical routine without any alteration or loss of information, both in time and frequency domains, and with good MR functional imaging.
